Well done on approaching those conversations with grace, Matt. I faced my fair share of rejections this year and could've benefited from more honesty and specificity. Awesome that you didn't veer away from the tough chats. I'll check out The Courage to Be Disliked. Thanks for the recommendation.

Great post. I am retired but have had deliver messages like this many times over the years.Your comments are a cogent summary of my experiences which included many slip ups. As Alexandra notes the "launching pad' comment is terrific and when people are shown this-great things can happen.

Wise words, Matt! That’s been my attitude toward rejection as I’ve gotten older and no matter how painful the initial sting, I’ve been able to accomplish more because I used it as a launch pad to go in a new direction.
