So stoked all is well for you king…the phenomenon as i am currently able to define it is “does anyone realize what happened in the world yesterday?”…performed in a shrieking angry yet comedically hopeless voice…so odd that the world is filled with equal parts joy and pain and that we pull to not both but either…
The title of the eponymous Milton's best-known poem has some applicability here - "Paradise Lost".
We largely took the Dave Barry advice and were in Connecticut for the storm rather than Sarasota. But historically, Connecticut has had more hurricanes than the Tampa Bay / Sarasota. We had a similar result from Milton- house okay, a lot of vegetation down and the neighborhood and surrounding areas in rough shape.
I fear that this is going to have a profound effect on the region's economy as many repairs and reopenings will not be completed in time for the winter season.
"Michael Sklar pointed out to me the oddity of this feeling, of the dread in the pit of your stomach, while everyone else is busy with their own normal stuff. As they should be." - must confess, that's me. Happy you and your family are safe, Matt, and thanks for making this story realer than a news reel. Greetings from the relative safety of not Nebraska, but Germany.
Matt! Was thinking about you and so glad to know things are okay. I really appreciate you holding a sense of lightness in the wake of the storm. But there is a way you could better anticipate the fate of your trees ya know. You just need the professional help of a palm reader who could predict the fortune of your trees in advance.

Kansas isn't too bad for a safe spot either.
Phew! So glad that was the outcome of Milton, but those poor trees! 🌴 🙏

Glad your place is ok! And I agree with you, I do think Milton will hurt the area economically for some time to come.

Hey-O!!!
Two comments:
1) First and foremost, Matt, grateful to hear you and your family made it through safely with minimal damage to your home.
2) Dave Rieser and I have very different definitions of “cool as shit” 🛻🐊
LOL, same!
I'm relieved to hear you survived the storm, Matt. The stories from friends in FL are both harrowing and inspiring. Glad you and the fam are safe.
Thinking of you and your family Matt 🙏 Glad you’ve got heart, humour, and good neighbours amidst the storm.
