I’m Matt, and welcome to Steady Beats. If you like to walk for a better life, and also like Dire Straits’ “Walk of Life,” you just might like this newsletter. My writing tank is empty. This is partly due, most likely, to the aftereffects of finishing another Write of Passage cohort. After three cohorts on the full time team, I have learned that the energy off-ramp from non-stop adrenaline and deadlines is not abrupt, but long and gently sloping.

While not a part of the WoP team, I feel this energy off-ramp from being IN the cohort. Still going strong, but my writing tank is also low. Thanks for sharing this- and the great essay links!
Matt, I relate to your intro here so much. The last few weeks since Write of Passage ended have been tough from a creative standpoint. Motivation to write is low. But everything in life waxes and wanes. I'm trying to accept the cycles and seasons knowing that energy and excitement for writing will rebound.
Grateful to be mentioned here; nice job curating this Matt. Posting every week is intense (and you're 223 in!). I'd like to try a weekly cadence next year, and I'm thinking I'll build curation in once a month. It double functions as a needed break & a way to read carefully, celebrate other writers, and be social. Win-win.
