I’m Matt, and welcome to Steady Beats. If you like to walk for a better life, and also like Dire Straits’ “Walk of Life,” you just might like this newsletter.
My wife recently talked to a woman who lost 70 pounds and got her cholesterol under control by carrying around Honey Nut Cheerios in a baggie. She snacked on them as needed. Whatever bad eating habits the Cheerios eliminated, it worked. For her.
She should write a book and launch a course, of course. Sponsored by General Mills.
(“This one ‘Nutty’ trick melts fat immediately …”)
Anyway, this post is a short reminder you do not have to:
Fast
Fast intermittently
Eliminate alcohol
Eliminate caffiene
Eliminate sugar
Eat only meat and dairy
Eat only fruits and vegetables
Eliminate all processed carbs
Strength train 3X per week
Strength train 4X per week
Dedicate one day per week to training legs
Sprint
Do loads of Zone 2 cardio (ok, actually, this one you probably do need to do)
Deadlift
Squat
Ignore your phone while strength training
What we do need is a spirit of play, of experimentation, and of dedication to our fitness. To find our own path amongst the millions of voices saying “This is the only way.”
Keeping searching, keep trying stuff out, hold it all lightly, and most importantly, keep going.
Thank you for reading.
Let’s keep the Steady Beats going. 💚
If you enjoyed this edition, would you mind giving the heart below a click? If you didn’t enjoy it, tell me where I’m wrong.
For me not thinking of movement and exercise as “punishment” for my food choices was a game changer. Haven’t lost weight but my relationship to moving my body has changed completely
Do you remember the “Nut N Honey” cereal commercials?
“What are doing to get in such good shape, dear?”
“Oh, Nuttin Honey…”
Thanks for the reminder. Love the joy this brings.
